He was probably told by Mitch he had no choice. Trump isn't the least bit interested in Hong Kongers, or in human rights.

And really, the US needs to be using the mirror.

It would be nice if the senate produced a veto-proof majority for the US to behave like a country that respects human rights, freedom and the rule of law. And throws out the bum whose corruption and incompetence is causing so much damage to these essential principles in the US and around the world. That's how it can set an example, if it cares to.

Until it does, I am afraid it is going to be a case of removing the plank from your own eye, before the mote or even the wood chip in that of others. That's how Jesus taught it, more or less.

Truth be told, he had no choice, nearly everyone in congress was for this, it was veto proof!
