I've worked on ladders forever, from early cherry/allple picking' to working in telecom all over the west... So naturally I have a collection, from 3 footers to 35 foot extension, to even one of the old wooden orchard ladders, but it's been retired, too shaky, so a wall hanger..

I used to hop up on the roof with my Echo leaf blower, blast out all the gutters..

No more, there's a little lack of confidence now, one damn stumble, and the thoughts of what i'd be thinking on my way down if I came off the roof have stopped that game... It was a lot quicker, simple, but.. So now, I use a ladder, but stay on it, but now a deWalt blower, a bit slower, but safer...

Looking back, there were times, places where it was crazy to go where I had to go, up over a parapet to get on the roof that was a couple feet above where the ladder would reach, to change a GPS antenna out or set a new one. The slide over the edge to catch that top end oof the ladder to get back down!

Nope, no more!

Last Saturday I received a call from my daughters neighbor, he said she had an accident & the ambulance was on the way.
I said I'd be right over, took about 7 minutes.

She was cleaning the gutters, on a ladder, the ladder slipped & she went too.

When I arrived she was on the stretcher, neck brace, talking, her ankle hurt & she heard a snap in her back when she landed on her feet, they acted sort of as shock absorbers.

She fractured her L2 vertebrae & sprained her ankle.
They operated Tuesday night & cemented the L2.

Amazingly she was released Thursday & is recovering well. She is limited, no lifting or bending & wears a brace for support for now. But she is VERY lucky!
No more ladders!!
