There's something so comforting about this UK election.
The Labour Party is so far left that no one who is not entirely ignorant of how socialism works will think of voting for it. It's not a little bit left, where you think, well, there are some benefits here. No, Corbyn lived through the 1970s and never noticed how terrible they were from an economic perspective. One strike after another.
Curiously, he lived in the same borough I did. But apparently lacked eyes. Even Bernie is to the right of him. Other than ivory tower academics, who is a Marxist these days?
Then, of course, there are the liberals, who are pure Remain. But they aren't getting much traction with Labour supporters.
Third, there is the Brexit Party, but Brexiteers have moved away from the party now that a deal has been negotiated that most folks can live with.
Basically, there's a single choice for folks who wish to honour the referendum and don't want Britain to follow Marxist principles. It is surely going to end up with a Conservative victory. Unlike US conservatives, British ones lean to the right, but they are not wingnuts. So, for instance, Boris is selling himself as wishing to increase spending on the National Health Service. Something that would make Mitch McConnell's head explode.
