True. It also is the reason for our stability, but it is be g abused by the fringes now. At least the primary system is fixable by changing who and how the districts are drawn.
Unfortunately, while it was never their intention since they had no concept of political parties, our Founding Fathers, with the creation of the Electoral College, has made anything more than TWO parties totally impractical. I suspect that the only places were more than two significant parties have ever been viable has been in countries using a Parliamentary system.
