California governor declares statewide emergency as massive wildfires force nearly 200,000 to evacuate
Massive wildfires in Northern and Southern California have prompted the governor to issue a â€œstatewide emergencyâ€ as power outages expand, almost 200,000 people are under evacuation orders and tens of thousands of acres burn.

â€œIt is critical that people in evacuation zones heed the warnings from officials and first responders,â€ Gov. Gavin Newsom said in a statement encouraging people to evacuate.
