I didn't know there was an Independent party. I was thinking of a man of substance and independent mind to whom others would be willing to defer for the sake of the nation.

I agree that practically-speaking, it ain't going to happen. But if it could be worked out, I have no doubt a person of that sort, running on their own for president against Trump, would crush him.

A true, battle-scarred patriot against a treacherous draft dodger who fakes his patriotism. There would only be one winner of that contest. This election isn't abour economics or social programmes. It's about whether the US wants to be a Republic founded on the ideals of freedom, democracy and the rule of law, and whether the commander-in-chief represents American interests, or just his own.

The Independent party isn't a party with enough clout.

The only power it has is to woo enough away from either the dem's or rep's to make a difference.
