Two things:

The original issue has nothing todo with what the second issue is.

The second issue is one that will always be debated in this country. It’s just a matter of fact. Tax talk is a hot issue.

As I already said, and will not go beyond it, I am all for no loopholes, a fair progressive tax, and corporations actually paying tax on their income.

The word fair is the catch.

Well, you seemed to be suggesting that redistribution of wealth was somehow an un-American, socialistic phenomenon. Did I misunderstand your position on that?

I suggest that no democracy can survive WITHOUT some mechanism which redistributes wealth to some degree or another. And a pure capitalistic society will fail in very short order. In order to survive, we have to have a mix of capitalism and socialism as well as a way to assure that disparity of wealth is controlled in some way. A progressive income tax system as well as an inheritance tax are good examples of what will be needed to accomplish that.

And to say that this discussion is not relevant to the original issue is naive at best.
