Kindness is the foundation of most virtue systems. It's not original or exclusive to Christianity, although it is essential to the versions of Christianity that I know and respect from a moral perspective.
But this and other virtues are built into human beings (and indeed most critters) by evolution. We have a conscience for a reason. It is useful. We all benefit from a shared sense of right and wrong. Public goods (the highway system, for instance) provide advantages for everyone. The fact that kindness and trustworthiness are also efficient is a fact generally lost on people who adhere to the religion of selfishness distributed by Ayn Rand.
Such a shame to be stuck with a miserable idea of that sort as the basis of one's philosophy. You can have all the money in the world and have no wealth at all.
