That's what the election is for.

Trump would need to be convicted in the senate before Pence would take his place. I would be shocked if enough republican would vote to convict (I think 20 would be needed).
There is NO way the senate would convict Pence knowing Nancy is in the wings.

a replacement president who is a Republican, but who is trustworthy?

I can see that the GOP would feel miserable about Pelosi taking over. But someone like Matthis would be fine by me. The aim isn't to get rid of a GOP president. It's to get rid of crooks in the Oval.
