I imagine there was pressure to do so, as two High Court judges said it wasn't a matter for the courts.
Of course, for me the underlying matter is the disgraceful behaviour of parliament in giving the electorate the opportunity to vote, and then doing everything to avoid honouring the result.
Now they are avoiding an election because they think they will lose it. If they were honourable people themselves, they'd allow the election.
Or put another way, I don't think the dishonesty is a one-sided thing here. Parliament has spent three years lying about its intentions.
