We made it to our ultimate destination, Newport, OR, on the coast. Our room overlooks the ocean but it's been raining most of the day, however, it's stopped for now and the sun is trying to break through.
The car is getting phenomenal gas mileage, 36.7 MPG so far. It has a 17 1/2 gal tank which mean we could go more than 600 miles on one fill-up. That means that we only have to stop for gas once between here and home. Granted, We have to use premium, but you can't beat the mileage. And since it's been raining we got to use the wipers for the first time and it has what they call rain-sensitive wipers which means that you can leave then ON all the time as they will only work when needed and the cycle time is controlled by how hard it's raining. And it also turns the headlights on automatically when the wipes are running (not sure about other states, but in California, if your wipers are on, your headlights have to be on).
My wife and I head-out tomorrow morning for an eight-day trip up to Salem, Oregon. We're taking her new Mercedes C300 so we'll see how it does as a 'road car'. We're visiting relatives, my wife's brother and his wife, as well as a niece and nephew, and their families. We're also going to go to the coast, around Newport, for a couple of days. We've got a few stops planned along the way, and of course, I'll be taking lots of photos, so I might post some of the more interesting ones when we get back.
