Re: "Environmental activists fear that Maggy Hurchalla’s case against a rock-mining company could have First Amendment ramifications. ... “What I worry about now,” she said, “is dying before we win.” "

Probably your concern these days too, eh clo - seeing as how you and this old lady are nearly the same age.

Maggy Hurchalla (Janet Reno's sister) sent e-mails claiming that required environmental studies had not been performed by Lake Point Restoration. The e-mails led to termination of a multi-million dollar contract between Lake Point Restoration and the county. Lake Point sued since the claim was false.. and the county (which means Florida taxpayers, clo) incurred 12 million dollars in damages when it settled with Lake Point. Lake Point then offered to drop its lawsuit against Hurchalla if she would simply apologize. She refused.

On the stand, Hurchalla admitted that she HAD seen the studies before sending the e-mails. A jury deliberated just 90 minutes before finding that she her malicious lies directly caused Lake Point to suffer nearly $4.4 million in damages. Very straight forward. Open and shut. The 1st Amendment has nothing to do with it.

Gold is $1,581/oz today. When it hits $2,000, it will be up 26.5%. Let's see how long that takes. - De 3/11/2013 - ANSWER: 7 Years, 5 Months
