You are a better person than me if you can follow Italian politics. I know they had moved towards the right but I have no idea who the main actors were or what they believed. I think they were struggling partly due to EU and euro currency issues. A few years ago, there was the Berlusconi corruption scandal. That's about it. People come and go, but the mess is permanent. And yet, curiously, an excellent health service, apparently.
