Company apologizes after cyanide, ammonia spill closes Lake Michigan beaches

A steel company has blamed a system failure at its Indiana plant for a recent chemical spill that sent cyanide and ammonia into a waterway near Lake Michigan, prompting the closure of beaches there.
The beach closures affected both Indiana Dunes National Park and the local Ogden Dunes Beach at the southern end of Lake Michigan.
