It took Trump this long to break Obama's steady as she goes economy. But he managed it.

Same old Republican model. Pretend lower taxes on wealthy people will produce compensating growth. It never does. But it tends to generate an optimistic stock market bubble. Then they hope the bubble burst happens after the next election.

At least the timing is good, electionwise. Trump has accelerated the effect of GOP policies by being so dreadful in so many ways. Now he's going to be working as hard as he can to rein in as many of the idiotic things he has done in order to try to preserve the economy. Starting with his trade war with China, apparently.

BREAKING: Wall Street slides as key recession indicator rings loud alarm bells

The Dow Jones index fell more than 400 points Wednesday morning after bond markets flashed a troubling indicator of an impending recession. The phenomenon, known as an inverted yield curve, has predicted every recession since the 1960s. It happens when investors, concerned about a sluggish economy, start shifting their money to less risky assets.
