After Neil Armstrong’s death in 2012, a bitter medical dispute led to a secret $6 million settlement for the astronaut’s family.

Mr. Armstrong’s two sons contended that incompetent post-surgical treatment at Mercy Health – Fairfield Hospital had cost Mr. Armstrong his life.

The hospital defended the care it provided, but paid to settle the matter privately, and insisted on keeping the complaints and the settlement secret.
