According to one English newspaper, several countries are contacting Boris Johnson's team to discuss a better deal, because they are worried about the effects on them of a "No Deal" Brexit.
Don't know if this is true. But if so...
Finally.
But also, duh.
To get a decent deal, you have to be willing to walk away. That's why Theresa May was such a disaster. Everyone knew she would fold her hand to get what she called a compromise, but what she called a compromise was in fact a humiliating defeat.
Basically, the majority of people want a neighbourly commercial arrangement and ease of travel with Europe, but not to be part of a federation. But if we can't get a neighbourly commercial and travel arrangement, then so be it. The cost of losing our sovereignty is too great.
Or put another way, these Europeans - okay, French and Germans - need to stop trying to build an empire in every political medium they encounter. It's been going on for too many centuries and it's getting boring.
