It really is best when folks share the glory, instead of claiming it for themselves.

This counts for the Russians too. Especially when there's plenty of glory to share and folks to share it.

Also worth remembering that the value of the war was not the killing. It was the survival of the places that weren't fascist and the peace and freedom which followed the war.
