Trump says progressive congresswomen should 'go back' and fix the 'crime infested places' they came from
President Donald Trump on Sunday said that progressive Democratic congresswomen should "go back" and try to fix the "crime infested places" where they "came from" before telling the U.S. government how to handle its problems.
Though he did not mention anyone by name in his tweets, the president appeared to refer to a group of Democratic congresswomen that includes representatives Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib and Ayanna Pressley, who have generated headlines and, recently, whose influence was downplayed by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Omar was born in Somalia, while the rest were born in the U.S. Democrats blasted the president's tweets as xenophobic, racist and bigoted.
