Yes. This is a racial crime.

But no, it is something bigger. A failure of culture.

This is the same sort of snowflake argument as one encounters almost everywhere.

We are all victims. No one wants to have a robust character any more. If you are a black man or a white man or a brown man or a blue man, you can find a reason to say "poor me."

So these moral weaklings think the law will protect them, because they have an excuse. They are pathetic, they argue, and so should be treated leniently.

Ugh.

The law isn't there to remedy a person's eggshell personality if the eggshell personality means you act in this way. The law is there to put any person in jail if they have done something criminal and there's no substantial reason for sympathy. If they are pathetic, so be it. That isn't a substantial reason.

Man Killed Black Teen Because Rap Music Made Him Feel ‘Unsafe’
Jamie Ross Reporter
Updated 07.09.19 6:07AM ET

An Arizona man has admitted to killing a black teen because the 17-year-old was listening to rap music and it made him feel “unsafe,” according to police.

Michael Paul Adams, 27, admitted stabbing the teenager who has been identified in some reports as Elijah Al-Amin.

The suspect said he felt threatened by the music—not anything the teenager was doing—and decided to be “proactive rather than reactive,” police records said. Adams is also quoted as saying people who listen to rap music are a threat to him and the community, and that he’s been attacked by rap fans before.

Adams used a pocketknife to stab the teen and slit his throat inside a convenience store. Al-Amin died at a hospital last Thursday.
Adams had just been released from the Arizona State Prison Complex in Yuma on Tuesday.
He’s now been booked into a Maricopa County jail on suspicion of first-degree premeditated murder.
