I have an app on my iPhone called 'QuakeFeed', which tracks earthquakes, magnitude 1.0 or larger, as they occur wherever in the world. You can set it up to send you alerts based on certain criteria, in my case, whenever there's a 3.0 or larger event anywhere in California I get a message on my iPhone. As you can imagine, it's been pretty busy the last couple of days. For example, overnight, while I slept, I got 101 alerts.
While watching one of our local TV stations last night we experienced something new. They were doing a live feed from CalTech and suddenly their instruments indicated a 5.7 aftershock, live on the air. One of their visuals showed the shock-wave as a 'red ring' propagating outward from the epicenter of the event and we were able to watch it move toward where we're located and sure enough, we felt the albeit minor shake just as the 'red ring' passed our area on the TV screen. It was a strange feeling seeing it all in real time.
