So, about the ....South.....
Went on a ride with some other people, in the foothills of the Blue Ridge mountains between Asheville and Greenville. Amazing roads, free of cars, canopy nearly everywhere, up and down, no relief, 40 highly enjoyable miles. We came across a mountain lion lazily crossing the road and going into the woods at one point. That was a sight. Those things are big. Then, something we t into my jersey and stung me twice before I pulled the jersey and it got out. Sting lasted about ten minutes, then nothing, not even a mark, until the next morning, two inch and a half red blotches on my chest and stomach, which got bigger over the day, but after some benadryl creme they are now starting to fade. That mustabeen either a horse fly or a deer fly. Lots of insects in this area. Waitress in Asheville said mosquitos not a problem at all this year but gnats and chiggers are. I saw a couple of large tick like things jumping around on the car, and one land on my leg, which I flicked away, very aggressive little varmints if I may say so.
It was hot there, but dry. Sun burned like south Florida in late spring and summer.
Greenville.....has been growing by leaps and bounds, a lovely downtown, free two hour parking, a very smart move, since you are going to spend money there, unlike so many other stupid towns like Telluride CO, where they charge $.10 for parking don’t remember the interval, and have a stupid empty cop car at the entrance of town, in the median of the road, with a speed radar device next to it, making sure everyone coming in UNDERSTANDS this is a POLICE TOWN. F them, I turned around and left, wouldn’t spend a dime in a stupid place like that.. so, anyway, Greenville a big plus, with people everywhere walking around the town, vs. Charlotte with a dead downtown, especially after hours. No one hangs downtown Charlotte for anything.......they have malls for that. And they go home early.
I have been off TV a few days now, a great thing, and will be busy today in Charlotte, and will not have the sad and disgusting opportunity to see the orangutan play with his tanks.
Do Americans realize the armed forces have no place in politics, and those who use them as such will have no problem using them against their own people. This is an ominous sign. Nothing to celebrate on the 4th of July this year if this is how this asshole wants to do it. It reminds me as a kid of the tanks rolling down the streets of Athens when the coup took place and the Junta took over for 7 terrible years of fascist rule, killing and torturing their own people in the name of patriotism and “Greece for Christian Greeks”.
