Let's see if the courts fight or accept being hollowed out.

If the latter, then you are in a much worse place.

It's already obvious that the GOP strategy of replacing objective judges and justices with partisans has damaged the political system. Allowing gerrymandering, which is an assault on democracy, is the latest folly.

If the courts cannot enforce the order of the Supreme Court, then you have a country that obeys its president and not its laws.

Justice Department officials reversed course on adding a citizenship question to the census, saying President Trump ordered them to find a way.

Officials told a federal judge in Maryland that they thought there would be a way to still add the question, despite printing deadlines, and that they would ask the Supreme Court to send the case to district court with instructions to remedy the situation.
