Actually, ZZ,
That is why the Constitution is vague. So that State and local Governments can experiment.
As long as they obey the rules outlined within the Constitution and its amendments.

Fair enough.
But here is what it is all about. Remember, the Constitution also guarantees folks
'Freedom of Religion'. Meaning one may not force ones 'religious principles' upon
others. So, the baker has his shop. Gay guy can walk in, not tell the baker he is gay and
buy any cake he wants. No problem. But gay guy wants a 'special cake' - with lettering
which offends and violates the bakers Constitutional right not to have his religious beliefs
tampered with.
'Freedom of Religion' means NOBODY has the right to force someone else to violate their religious
principles.
Are there solutions to this problem? Of course. Solution one, Gay Guy can go to
another 'gay friendly' bakery to buy his cake. Option 2, Buy a generic cake,
take it home, and decorate it to his own liking. Option 3, Bake his own danged
cake and not pay the baker anything.

Why does darn near every religion and country on this planet have the institution of
marriage? My guess it is because the time honored version of marriage, one guy and
one girl, produces children - the future workers and taxpayers of every society.
So why would anybody want to give a tax break to two guys who can not produce a child?
