I don't think reparations are the appropriate response to the history. Bad things have been done to everyone at some point. It's up to every single one of us to work the hand dealt to us and to make the most of it. Not to play the victim card.

Exceptions for people with health issues, who have retired, to support any folks down on their luck (black or otherwise) and so on.

Nor can you make anyone guilty for the mistakes of people more than a hundred years ago.

So I think there's no ancestral right to a payout, any more than I believe original sin passes to the descendants of Adam and Eve.
