It sounds like Trump is angling for fresh tariffs against the EU.
I don't know much about the aircraft manufacturing businesses. I do know that the US is damaging itself by taking on the Chinese economy, which is smaller than the US one, and now the EU economy, which is larger.
In trade terms, the US is one superpower among several. But it is fighting on many fronts where everyone else is just having a trade war with the US.
In fact, I would guess that EU-China trade is filling the space the US is vacating.
All this because the US president has no understanding of comparative advantage. There's basically no subject he knows much about except swatches.
