We drove thru eastern Oklahoma today, in the middle of one of those vicious thunderstorms you've probably been watching on the TV. A large segment of the southbound lane of the divided highway, US-69, was underwater and the highway patrol was diverting traffic off to an alternate route. Fortunately, we were heading north, but even then the water was only a couple of inches from the edge of the road. Going thru Muskogee we say a lot of flooding along the Arkansas River, gas stations with water halfway up the height the pumps, a used car lot with water up to the windshield of most of the cars in their lot, etc. There was lots of thunder and lightning but no funnel clouds. We made it thru OK and got to our stop for the night in Rolla, Missouri. We head to Michigan in the morning.

Storms Flooding Hudson Valley During PM Commute
Goshen, Lake Carmel, Brewster, Peekskill are all in the path of the storm line. A flood advisory has been issued.

...
More thunderstorms are likely in the region from about 4 p.m. until midnight. Damaging winds and hail are the main threats, but an isolated tornado is also possible.
