If an immigration judge orders refugees deported, isn't that because he thinks they are just illegal immigrants, not refugees?
At any rate, for myself I have no problem with deporting illegal immigrants whose cases a judge has reviewed. That's just following the law, isn't it?
Maybe I am missing something.
Obviously, we have seen that Miller and Trump have racial motives. And their focus on brown people is horrifying. But I don't see that Vitiello and Nielsen did much wrong here. They were dealing with a practical issue and not an ethical and legal one. The judge decides legal and ethical questions. No?
Also, I don't know whether V and N presented practical issues as a cover for ethical concerns. But one thing is clear. Trump and Miller were setting them up to take the blame. And they decided they weren't going to do what was asked of them.
