I wonder if they do it as additional publicity for local races.

Because the winner's probably already known (Biden) with only a few folks with an outside hope of an upset.

If they cut off the debates for candidates at something like 3% in the polls that will thin the field some.

Generally, I prefer governing experience to Congress. But this time, none of the governors has made a dent.
