This is the one thing US presidents have agreed on. Even Trump. And they are right.
It's totally wrong that the US spends 4% of GDP on defence and most European countries spend a lot less than 2%.
We are in NATO together and those who don't contribute their share, especially wealthier countries, should step up.
Having been shocked a few years ago by the size of the Royal Navy - it's so much smaller than I imagined - I will be very happy to see UK armed forces increase in size. Using 3% of GDP on defence makes sense to me.
We should at least be able to match the Russians in terms of expenditure on information security as part of the package. That's an area of expertise, and we might be able to get others under our aegis to help fund it.
I hope European countries make sure they reach the 2% threshold asap.
