I suspect that for all but the novel attacks, calling attention to these shootings encourages future crazies. They want to shock. Makes sense just to treat them as sheep-like bores following someone else's model, whose actions aren't worth anyone's time.
Maybe one of these people will decide to be original by painting the lawn blue or covering themselves in toothpaste or something like that. Little damage done. A form of artistic expression to SHOCK the bourgeoisie.
