This is one reason why Warren wants a wealth tax. So the folks who benefit from these tax shelters have to pay a share of the wealth they conceal in tax-free vehicles.

It's not to punish them. It's to get them to pay their share of society's burdens. It's also how you reduce runaway inequality to more normal levels.

All of these tax avoidance schemes ultimately shift the tax burden onto those who cannot afford to create and pass through loopholes.

I'm beginning to hope Warren succeeds. She has the substance of the argument right. To fix America requires massive change. And the issue of inequality is a key one.
