Ex-Oil Lobbyist Confirmed to Lead Interior Department
The Senate confirmed ex-oil and “agribusiness” lobbyist David Bernhardt to lead the Interior Department on Thursday, The New York Times reports. Lawmakers voted to confirm Bernhardt in a 56-41 vote largely along party lines, despite Democrats and other watchdog groups calling for probes into his past behaviors. Bernhardt will replace Ryan Zinke, who stepped down after a series of ethics scandals.
