Perhaps but it isn't a strong argument on an individual level.
Employers make jobs available at market rates. They aren't responsible for an employee's costs. If a person wants to be paid more, they need to earn it through their employer or apply for a job that pays more.
If people in a democracy wish to increase lower-paid employees wages generally, they need to make laws that raise wages above minima.
On the other hand, if they wish to lower the wages of higher-paid employees generally, they need to raise taxes on them.
That's how I see it anyway.
