My father died of pancreatic cancer back in 1989 when there was very little that they could do for him. He went to the Mayo Clinic and got the best treatment money could buy at the time, but he only survived for about nine months from when he was diagnosed. The only bright side was that pancreatic cancer, while it's usually fatal, but not always, it's not like some cancers which can totally destroys all quality of life, like lung cancer, where you can linger for months in pain and unable to get out of bed. My father was fully active right up to a couple of days before he died. Granted, he chose to stay at home and not go to the hospital, but I think that was better for all of us as we were able to be with him until the end. I was holding his hand when he passed, and I will never forget that experience as long as I live.
