When a country (US) needs consumers, instead of building & creating, as their survival, while eroding their ability to keep that wheel greased, we are doomed.

When the majority of the population uses 'credit cards' with usury interest rates, the debt will take a toll on the whole, and the house of cards will fold.

At this point a record number of car loans are in default, student loans are another burden.

and meanwhile the rich get richer....

is that its supposed centre is so far to the right.

The middle in most democratic countries allows protections for the vulnerable and argues about more or less.

In the US, one party wants to disenfranchise and damage the vulnerable because it imagines a fantasy world in which somehow markets or benign communities will embrace them. The reality is a brutal view of society, in which consumers might as well have targets on their backs, gross inequality is normal and life expectancy among the poor is reducing, like nowhere else.
