I think it is being misrepresentd or fouled up by those who speak about it.

I don’t think it should replace the private insurance system, but augment it, just as Medicare does now based on age. And remember, part B of Medicare is private insurance.

Obamacare does that too. No one forces ANYONE to get insurance through Obamacare. You can call an insurance compsny and get health insurance if you can afford it through them. The one thing Obamacare did to private insurance is add some important rules on pre existing conditions and lifetime/yearly limits, as well as losing your home if you get seriously sick. When you do get sick, as some are finding out, the partisan bullshit ...ends. You either get treated or bye bye, for sure. A terrible place to be, sick and nowhere to turn.

So, Medicare for all just like Medicare should be available to those over 55 initially, as an option. Obamacare, once it has its problems fixed would be available for tne rest. And totally private insurance should also be available to anyone. That’s the way forward, so that everyone has heatlh insurance.

We should not kill one for another. We should have layers and options for all. It’s a free country, and competition should be an element. Medicare is not free, nor is Obamacare. If they were free, it would be socialism. Medicaid is close to that, but some cannot pay for any insurance type. We can’t have people dying for lack of basic medical care in the 21st Century in America. You want to call that socialism, go for it. Let’s see when you or one of yours gets sick how you think about that.

So, this Medicare for All is just bs, and I think it would fk up our country in many different ways. We need a layered system, with freedom for everyone to choose, based on ability, need, etc.

The problem with the young who have no health insurance and go to emergency rooms can be partially solved by loading the costs on them for life, like a mortgage, and bad credit rating if they don’t pay. Responsibility for one’s person should be the point here. We can’t afford stupid, who can pay for health insurance but do not because they don’t feel like it.

Health insurance is like a job. You need it.
