This past Saturday afternoon, my wife and I attended the stage performance of '1776' at the La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts.

I've been a big fan of the movie production, both the original and the directors cut, which included the scenes that Richard Nixon had demanded be removed (and which were) from the theatrical version, when he reviewed the film in 1972 at a private White House showing (the stage performance we saw included the 'objectionable' material).

The musical was very well done with a extremely professional cast. Below is a video clip showing several scenes from the dress rehearsal:

The current members of Congress and the White House would be well served if they were to take the time and watch the film as it shows how compromise is supposed to work.
