Second Man Charged With Murder in Jazmine Barnes Shooting
A second man has been charged in the shooting death of 7-year-old Jazmine Barnes, KRTK reports.
Larry Woodruffe, who was reportedly charged with capital murder, allegedly fired shots into Barnes’ mother’s vehicle in late December while he was riding in the passenger seat of another car.
The 24-year-old was arrested Saturday on an unrelated charge, and the capital murder charge was filed Tuesday afternoon.
Jani Jo Maselli Wood, an assistant Harris County public defender representing Woodruffe, told The Daily Beast on Tuesday that “there is a lot more to the story that will soon be revealed.”
“This is an ongoing investigation but my client maintains his innocence,” Wood said. The driver of the car, 20-year-old Eric Black Jr., was also charged with capital murder earlier this week. Barnes’ funeral took place on Tuesday.
