It isn't a winning hand to ally the US with dictators. No one likes that sort of partner. In the long run, those countries will hate the US with great intensity.
Meanwhile, the US will never get alliances with folks like the Kurds again. They were screwed by Bush Sr. Dubya wanted to show them the Bushes were sorry. Now they have been screwed by Trump.
This is setting up the next world war as there are no alliances of common values and no peaceful means of competing and/or cooperating. And so there will be angry confrontations over terrestrial - and celestial - power and authority.
