Consumed as you are by hatred and ignorance, you're seeing bogeymen that just don't exist. In this case, I think the problem stems from the fact that you don't know what the word "marginal" means, and you assume that a 7-year-old understands it better than you do. In general, your assumption would be right but not in this case. I assure you, 7-year-olds don't know the word.

What the President said does NOT mean that Santa doesn't exist. It means that some 7-year-olds don't believe in him. Some do... some don't. That's what the "marginal" reference means. The statement, even if understood, would not shake a kid's belief. 7-year-olds ARE smart enough to know that not everyone their age believes.

You're never too old to learn, clo. I suggest using the word "marginal" several times today and later this week so that you remember it. Here are some suggestions you might employ: "Democrats are marginally good." Or, "Barack Obama is a marginal male." Or, "Although I failed repeatedly as a wife, as a mom I was marginal."
