And while it is not a bad piece, it contains the same old seeds of piffle that I find so frustrating. Until the US looks in the mirror and finds that it is like other western countries and faces the same issues, it will keep on being susceptible to fantasies and a sense of self-righteousness which has been troubling for some time.

It is time for the hero-saviour idea of the US to be retired. Americans should absorb the notion of the homonoia of all mankind. It is right there in the old immigration idea.
