The person I think could steer it through is Lord King, former governor of the Bank of England. Not a politician, but a man of integrity and with economic credentials. He could stand up to the scarefiers. But he hasn't expressed an interest.

Boris is a very bright guy and maybe he has grown up finally. He's been too loose to be PM for a long time. Enjoys buffoonery more than most (okay, all) previous PMs.
