Turkey Seeks Arrest of Two Saudi Aides in Khashoggi Killing

Istanbul’s chief prosecutor filed arrest warrants Wednesday for two former aides to Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in connection with the killing of Jamal Khashoggi.

Court adviser Saud al-Qahtani and Gen. Ahmed al-Asiri, the two former aides, were both removed from their positions at the Saudi consulate in Istanbul in early October, after the Washington Post writer’s death.

Turkish officials claim the crown prince was directly responsible for the killing; Saudi Arabia has maintained he is innocent. The move comes the day after senior U.S. senators announced they believe that the royal known as MBS was responsible for the killing after they emerged from a new CIA briefing. The United Nations’ human-rights chief on Wednesday also called for an international investigation into the incident.
