For nearly 18 years, the former President, George H.W. Bush, has been a 'regular' at my son's restaurant in Houston (he doesn't actually own the restaurant but was the executive chef when Bush started to eat there and is now responsible for all the stores of that brand, McCormick & Schmick's, but his office is still in the Houston store). The former president only lived a mile or so away from the restaurant.
The first time that our son can recall the senior Bush eating there was on St. Patrick's Day in 2001.

McCormick & Schmick's is known for celebrating St. Patrick's Day day in a big way, include serving Green Beer, Corn beef and cabbage, etc. (my wife and I have often gone to our local M&S for the St. Patrick's Day dinner).
Anyway, apparently the senior Bush liked the Irish food as well. More recently, since his health was failing, our son says that he's only been in a couple of times, the last time around Christmas of last year. In fact we were talking to our son when the news broke about Bush's death and he said that just last week they were speculating about whether Bush would be coming in again this Christmas season, now that his wife had passed.
