Well, I survived. The surgery went OK, but I'm in a sling with a splint that will not allow me to bend my elbow for several days, which means that I'll probably have to sleep sitting-up in chair (I've done it before, for six weeks 11 years ago when I had shoulder surgery) for at least a few days.
