The new congress will be sworn in on January 3, 2019 at high noon.
It appears Republicans will have 55 seats in the Senate if AZ & Montana hold. That is a big gain for Trump. After the 2016 election, the Senate included Corker, Flake and McCain, plus the Alabama fiasco, so really there were only 48 Republican votes. So it looks like after yesterday it ends up a plus 7 for Trump in the Senate.
The next 60 days or so may be quite eventful politically. It should be noted the declassification ordered by Trump has been delayed. I expect the delay will end, the documents will be released and result in significant political repercussions impacting some, perhaps many, of the winners in yesterday's results. I am uncertain the Democrat majority will remain intact over the next 60 days. It could be very interesting.
