ROCK BOTTOM?
Poll: The Global Image of the U.S. Has Hit a Historic Low

He was laughed at by world leaders last week, and a new survey of those in 25 countries suggests people around the globe don’t share Donald Trump’s high opinion of himself either.

The global image of the U.S. has dropped to historic lows since Trump took office, a Pew Research Center survey shows, with only Israelis, Russians, and Kenyans showing an increase in positive attitudes since the inauguration. Pew found that respondents generally have less confidence in Trump’s ability to lead than they do in Russian President Vladimir Putin.

In Canada, only 39 percent of respondents had a positive view of the U.S., which is down from 65 percent at the end of Obama’s presidency. For Mexico, the figure halved to 32 percent from 66 percent. The most significant increase was in Russia, which was up 11 percentage points. A median of only 27 percent of respondents said they have confidence in Trump to do the right thing in world affairs.
