This Judge chap is trying to create distance between himself and the allegations against K.

All sounds a bit like a conspiracy of silence for K's sake. But it could be something a bit more like he knows his memories aren't precise enough to withstand detailed questioning, and he wants to avoid the embarrassment. Or he thinks he is at risk and simply doesn't want to provide ammunition which can be used against himself.

So one may not assume K is guilty merely because Judge is silent.

Either way, I think the Republicans must at least postpone the nomination while a non-partisan investigation occurs.

This is why you have such investigations. So that the partisan evidence development process seems trustworthy to everyone. The GOP only has itself to blame.

PANTS ON FIRE

Mark Judge’s Ex: He Lied About Sexual Misconduct at School

Conservative writer Mark Judge, who denies he witnessed an alleged sexual assault by Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh in high school, has said he doesn’t recall his Georgetown Prep classmates getting physical with any girls. But two women, including one who dated Judge in college, have told The New Yorker a very different story. Elizabeth Rasor told the magazine that Judge told her about an incident in which he and other boys took turns having sex with a drunk woman. “I can’t stand by and watch him lie,” Rasor was quoted as saying. Through his attorney, Judge denied the account. The magazine also quoted an anonymous woman who grew up in Maryland in the 1980s as saying she saw Georgetown Prep boys get female students drunk on “jungle juice”—grain alcohol mixed with Hawaiian Punch—for sexual purposes. “It was disgusting,” the woman said. “They treated women like meat.” Neither women suggested Kavanaugh was part of the incidents. Republicans have declined to ask Judge to testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee about the party where Kavanaugh is accused of trying to force himself on Christine Blasey Ford.

Read it at The New Yorker
