I think delay and investigate is the obvious moral position, considering this is a job for life. If that means he doesn't get confirmed, so be it. Trust in the operation of the law is more important than winning. The Republicans should have chosen a better candidate. Absence of vetting is a consistent problem with this administration.
McConnell has already exploded trust in the operation of the Senate, and that will take a generation to restore.
Here's an interesting quote.
“I stand by the letter I signed. I do not know this woman,” said McGill by email on Sunday, referring to Ford. McCaleb added, “I absolutely stand by the letter we signed.”
No one said she was in the room. So why does she need to have an opinion?
Why does she think whether she knew Dr Ford is relevant? She has said her piece already. We know she supports K. Not knowing F she can have no opinion about her other than what everyone else knows.
So now she appears to be part of a Republican circle determined to disqualify the possibility of the truth coming out? Why does she feel the need to undermine Dr Ford's reputation? It sounds like she is not balanced but politically totally partisan. In which case we can discount her signature among the supposed numerous childhood female friends of K.
I notice there is no group of men supporting K's innocence. Schoolboys know a lot about their peers. Where are his prep school defenders? They should be interviewed to find out if he bragged about it.
There's reason to want to learn the truth.
